Tips for Successful Speed Networking​​

Shake up your ILMA meeting routine and start a conversation with someone new at ILMA’s popular Speed Networking event on Friday, April 21 from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. Attendees will be randomly paired for 3-minute rounds. You never know who you’ll meet – a supplier, customer, colleague, or your new best friend! To help you prepare, we’ve put together some tips to help maximize your speed networking skills. One participant per company, please. 
We ask that attendees arrive 5-10 minutes early for check in and stay for the entire event. 

 

Be Prepared

Bring a stack of business cards and a printout with key details about your company to hand off during your introduction.

 

Prioritize Your Message

Remember, each round lasts only 3 minutes! Skip the small talk and be ready to quickly communicate who you are, what you do and what brings you to #ILMAMeets.

Remember to Listen

Allow your partner time to share information about themselves, too.

Take Notes

Take a moment to jot down your partner’s name and the context of your discussion. This will make it easier to pick up where you left off when you connect after the session. Pro tip: With the ILMA app, you can add notes directly under a connection's profile to help you remember important details about that person and your interaction.

 

Follow Up

Take advantage of #ILMAMeets networking events and dedicated networking time to expand on the connection with your new contact. You can even send direct messages to attendees on the ILMA app!
